Fishing report 24th July - 30th

July 24th – Another good week here at Ballisodare with many salmon landed and many more hooked and lost. Pat Harrian landed two lovely fish early today weighing 8lb and 4lb. Both fish were caught on the worm. Our German tourist Michael Feuring caught a nice salmon weighing 3 lb on the fly. Fifteen fish caught today with six of those released.
July 25th – Most anglers caught two fish today with twenty fish recorded for the day. Nine of those were released. Joe Casey landed two nice salmon weighing 4lb and 5lb both landed on the worm. The average weight of those caught was between 4 -5 lb. Those released weighed between 3-4lb.
July 26th – A quieter day today with twelve fish reported. Four of those were released. The average weight of those caught was 5lb while those released were smaller weighing approx. 3lb.
The next number of days was similar here at Ballisodare. Some anglers getting lucky and some not as lucky. The largest fish caught today was a 7lb salmon caught on the fly. On Friday David O’ Connor got lucky landing two nice fish up river weighing 3lb and 5lb both caught on the fly.
While Ballisodare recorded some great numbers of fish for the month of July things are definitely beginning to slow down with fish proving harder to catch. Anglers have enjoyed some great sport and are already looking forward to returning next season.
