Fishing Report April 1st - April 9th 2017

April 1st – The season kicked off nicely here at Ballisodare with 3 Spring Fish caught on the first day.
Stephen Cassols landed the first fish of the season on the worm weighing in at 7.3 lb.
David Marren followed shortly after with a lovely 9.26 lb salmon on the worm the heaviest on the day, while Eamon Ruddy had the third fish of the day weighing in at 7.5 lb.
April 2nd - There were three fish caught on the worm today . Richie Watters 9lb , Fechin Mc Morrow (Jnr )7lb and Clive O’ Neill 9.5 lb.
Philip Soden released two fish on the fly weighing approximately 6lb.
April 3rd – Richie Watters netted a nice 8lb fish while David Dumican was rewarded with a 7lb fish the first of the season on the fly.
April 4th – Angling was much the same today with four fish caught average weight 8lb ,while there was two salmon released averaging 6lb in weight.
April 5th – Again today there were three fish caught up river with Chris Kitchen netting a lovely 10lb salmon on the worm.
April 6th – Two salmon were reported caught in Ballisodare today with the heaviest being 11lb caught on the fly by Tom Devaney.
April 7th- Three salmon caught today with our Club chairman Pat Forkan netting a nice 8lb salmon on the fly while a visiting French Angler netted a nice 7lb salmon on the worm.
April 8th- Few Anglers fish today with no fish reported.
April 9th – Again fishing quiet today with Heather Chambers catching the only fish of the day with a 9lb salmon.
The most popular fly for the week was the Silver Wilkinson and the Posh Tosh.
