Fishing Report April 22nd – April 28th 2019

Temperatures cooled off as the week progressed with the water levels remaining steady. Our anglers made the most of the migration this week especially at the weekend.

Fish of the week was 13¼lb caught late evening on the Fly by a thrilled David Lee.

Gerry McHugh had a nice 7lb fish and David Crawley caught two this week, both on the Fly, 8lb and 7lb respectively. Other members caught some great fish during the week bringing the average to around 9lb.

There were 13 fish released over the week including those by Paddy Beirne 7lb and Andrew Pearson 8lb.

The weekend proved to be the best of the season so far. Alan Shaw landed the heaviest Salmon at 10lb on the worm but was joined by Gerry Merrick 8lb, Paul O’Donnell 7lb and our youngest member Colm McMorrow with a lovely 7lb fish on the worm.

With little rain on the horizon the River will begin to drop but the season is well under way now with 18 fish killed this week so it looks like it’s going to be a good one here at Ballisodare.
