Fishing Report July 10th - 16th

July 10th – There were good numbers of salmon landed this week with plenty hooked and lots more released. A Total of 18 fish reported today with nine of those released. Three German Anglers were pleased when they each landed a nice fresh salmon weighing between 5lb and 6lb all caught on the worm. Some local anglers were happy to catch and release the average weight approximately 4lb.
July 11th – Twenty five fish reported today with 8 of those released. Average weight of those caught was 5lb on the fly and the worm. Club member Denis Glennon released two on the prawn weighing 4 and 5lb.
July 12th- With the low water conditions continuing fish are running but harder landed. There were 15 fish reported today average weight 5lb. The fly and the worm working best. Among the successful anglers was Billy Davitt landing two nice fish weighing 4 and 5lb both caught on the fly.
July 13th- Twenty one salmon reported today average weight 5lb.
July 14th – Today we had our annual kid’s day angling competition which proved very successful. See separate report on Kid’s Day.
July 15th – Nine fish reported killed today and 7 more were released weighing between 4 and 6lb.
July 16th – With the warm bright conditions remaining our anglers are hoping for some more rain. However we still had good numbers recorded today at Ballisodare with twenty five fish reported. Nine of those were released again. Regular visitor and keen angler Alex Chenaux from Switzerland landed a lovely 6lb salmon on the fly while also releasing one on the fly weighing 4lb.
Overall plenty of fresh salmon and Grilse running through Ballisodare River.
