Fishing Report June 5th - 11th

June 5th – Fifteen fish reported caught today six of which were released. Club member Alex Mills caught two fish weighing 4lb and 5lb both caught on the fly. Neil Walton from Voya Seaweed Baths and Spa caught a lovely 11lb salmon on the worm and was lucky to catch a second, weighing 5lb also caught on the worm.
June 6th – Twenty-Five Fish reported caught today with an average weight of 7lb. Ten of these were released. Fish were caught using the fly the prawn and the worm.
June 7th – Fourteen Fish reported caught today average weight 6lb caught on the worm, fly and the prawn. Amongst the successful anglers were visiting angler’s father and son Steve and Joe Breier. Joe caught a 5lb fish on the fly and a 6lb fish on the worm while his dad Steve caught a 4 and 5lb fish on the fly.
June 8th – Fouteeen Fish reported caught today average weight 5lb. Four fish released average weight 5lb.
June 9th – Four fish reported caught today. Mark Graham released a nice hen fish weighing 11lb caught on the fly.
June 10th – After the long dry spell the heavy rain during the night is welcome improving fishing conditions here at Ballisodare. Seventeen fish reported caught today caught on the fly and the worm average weight 5lb. David Lee had a nice 9 pounder on the worm. Five more were released average weight 6lb caught on the fly.
June 11th – With the river in lovely condition for fishing there were some great catches today. Fifty fish reported caught with fourteen of those released average weight 6lb. Roy Cooper killed a 3 and 4lb fish on the worm with Denis Barrett also killing two fish weighing 2 and 4lb both caught on the worm. Fish were released by Board Member Andrew Pearson releasing two fish off the fly 4 and 5lb weight, while James Mc Guire Board member also released two fish off the fly weighing 4 and 5lb. Other fish released today weighed an average of 3 to 4 lb.
Overall a good week here at Ballisodare with many anglers having lots of success and a lot of enjoyment too.
Flies working best this week were the Gold Body Cascade and the Yellow Ally.
