Ballisodare Fishing Club Report June 1st – June 14th
June 1st – June 7th
June started off well with 15 fish caught on the first day of the month, with 6 of these released on the fly, in these were a few decent fish, John Lawler with a 7lb fish, Tom Devaney with an 8.5lb fish and Vincent Henry with a 7lb fish all on the fly.
Luke O’Connell had a good day on Wednesday June 3rd releasing two fish weighing 10lb and 7lb both taken on the fly. Mark Graham also released a fish of approx. 10lb on the fly.
Another good fish caught during the week was caught by Denis Crawley (10lb released on fly).
A good week was had with a total of 80 fish caught for the week, 36 of these being released.
June 8th – June 14th
June continues to fish well although water levels are starting to drop.
Second week in June produces 84 fish with 29 released.
Keith Campbell had the best fish of the week weighing 14lb taken at the falls.
Fish are averaging 5 and 6lb but there are still springers around.
Fish are mostly being caught on the fly and worm but men who are fishing the prawn at the falls are having success on days.
Flies that are working are the gold body cascade, yellow ally shrimp, thunderflash and small plastic willie gunn tubes.
