June 29th – July 12th
The end of June running into the beginning of July has been productive here at Ballisodare with 396 fish caught for the last 2 weeks 110 of these fish released. On the river both fly and worm have been successful, while at the falls the worm, fly and prawn have all been productive.
Average size of fish is about the 5 pound mark, with many fish 6lb on the scene.
Some good reports were from Paul Hamilton who had 2 on the fly at the falls, one of which was 8lb, Donagh McDonnell had two fish weighing 8lb and 5lb both on the worm at the falls, Kevin Flynn had 2 on the fly at the falls weighing 8lb and 4lb respectively, Dermot Glennon had a good day on the prawn at the falls catching 2 fish weighing 8.5lb and 7lb releasing one. There were many reports of men catching 2 fish for their days fishing, with lots of 4 and 5lb braces.
A group of French anglers Rudy Le Henaff, Gregory Claudi, Joseph Michelot and Henry Claudi had a good 4 days fishing with approx. 30 fish landed and many more lost. Most fish were in the 4-6 lb bracket with a few 3 and a few 7lb.
