Report July 13th - July 26th

A good 2 week’s fishing in Ballisodare with 312 caught (107 released) with all methods catching fish.
The fly and the worm are most productive taking about equal quantities of fish, with the prawn taking a nice number at the fall’s (cocktail of purple and natural has been working best).
Popular flies have proven to be the cascade (all variations), thunderflash, arctic shrimp patterns, stoats tails and willie gunns (all on small size 12/14 trebles).
With plenty of fish throughout the system fishing has been good, with few anglers blanking.
Most fish landed are between 4 and 6lb, but best fish was caught by Mr Andrew Pearson who struck gold when he hooked a fine sea liced fish at the falls on Saturday July 25th weighing just a shade under 9lb, taken on a posh tosh.
On July 14th we had our annual “Kid’s Day” which went extremely well. We had a total of 60 entries for the day, with 60 kid’s catching fish, a great day by anyone’s standards.
Ballisodare Fishing Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved and everyone who helped out, along with IFI and our sponsors, without whom the day would not have been possible.
Another special thanks to Mr Ken Tucker of Douglas Jewellers in Carlow for sponsoring us with lovely trophies that put smiles on a lot of faces.
