Ballisodare Fishing Club Report May 18th – May 24th
A good week at Ballisodare with 63 salmon caught. Fish have been caught on a mixture of worm, fly and prawn.
Winds have been making it awkward for the week, but those who have persevered have been rewarded.
Some of the good fish reported for the week were caught by John Connolly (8lb released on fly), Gerry McHugh 10lb caught on the fly, Michael Smith 11lb caught on the worm, Gerard Merrick had a good fish of 11lb on the fly.
Spanish visitors Miguel, Julio and Diego had 3 good days fishing landing 13 fish (ranging from 6 to 9lb) with some released, 6 of the fish were caught on the worm, the rest were on the fly.
Fish other than this have been in the 5 to 7lb bracket, with vast numbers of fish covered in sea lice.
Again, the fly that has been doing the business is the posh tosh. On days where the water has been a bit lower normal flies dressed on size 10 and 12 trebles/doubles (cascade, willie gunn, flamethrowers) have been working.
