The Main River

The main River comprises seven named pools upstream of the Falls, consisting of a series of glides and fast flowing waters.

Both worm and fly are successful when water conditions permit.

Above the bridge in Ballisodare is a more tranquil section of the river with the worm and fly providing the best opportunity to hook up a salmon.

Angling on the River is permitted between 9am and 6pm. There is 1 fish limit per day and a total bag limit of 3 fish up until May 31st and 2 fish limit per rod per day from June 1st until the end of August.

The use of shrimp or prawn is prohibited on the River throughout the season.

The use of artificial worms is prohibited on both the River and at the Falls.
