Fishing Report May 15th - 21st

May 15th – With Ballisodare River at its lowest in a very long time the heavy rain last night and today is very welcome. Visiting Angler John Webb from Northern Ireland caught a lovely 8lb fish on the worm. Club member John Lawlor landed a nice 7lb fish on the fly. Three fish released average weight 5lb.
May 16th – Water conditions are perfect for fishing as can be seen from the catches today. Patrick Scallan was the first to catch a lovely 9lb fish on the worm with five more caught including a fine Sea Liced Salmon weighing 10lb caught on the fly by club angler Mark Graham. Gerry Merrick released a 5lb fish on the fly with four more being released also average weight 6lb.
May 17th – Good day again here at Ballisodare with nine fish killed average weight 7lb and five more released average weight 6lb. Club member John Lawlor was happy with his 7lb salmon caught on the fly.
May 18th – Mark Crawford caught a nice grilse weighing 5lb on the fly while Shane Maye landed a lovely 10lb sea liced salmon on the fly. Two more fish killed today average weight 8lb. Two fish released average weight 5lb.
May 19th – Four fish caught today on both fly and worm average weight 6lb with three more released.
May 20th - Three fish caught today 5lb caught on the worm 8lb caught on the worm and 9lb on the fly with seven more released average weight 5lb all caught on the fly.
May 21st – Hugh Mc Keever was the first to land a fine 10lb fish on the worm with Tommy Colgan following closely with a 9lb fish on the worm also. Three other smaller fish reported average weight 6lb.


Most popular flies working this week were the Green Highlander and the Stoat’s Tail.
