Report April 27th - May 10th

April 27th - John Connolly and Roy cooper were the men that succeeded with fish weighing 9.5lb and 6.5lb respectively, both caught on the fly up river.

April 28th - Tony Scallan had a nice 9lb fish on the worm up river. Brothers Mark and Damien Crawford had a good day, Damien released a fish of 6lb on the fly in the morning, then caught one 10lb in the afternoon on the worm, his brother Mark had one 12lb also on the worm.

April 29th - the river had been high and was starting to drop, few men fished, but John Murray had a good day, releasing a fish of 7lb and catching another one weighing over 14lb both on the fly, John also lost a bigger fish. Shane Maye had a 6.5lb fish on the worm.

April 30th - the river was in better condition, this showed in the fishing. Shane Maye had an 11lb fish on the worm, Sean Maye had one 7lb on the fly, Frank Adams had one 6lb on the worm and Padraig Cunningham had a fish 8lb on the fly, John Murray released a fish 9lb on the fly.

May 1st - successful anglers on the day were Paddy Marron (7.5lb on worm), David Marron (9lb on fly), Paul McMahon (7.5lb on fly) and Paddy Byrne released a fish of 4lb on the fly.

May 2nd - 6 fish were caught for the day, Paul McGrory had a 7lb fish on the fly, Tommy Colgan also had one on the fly weighing 6lb, Eamon Ruddy had an 8lb fish on the worm, Michael O'Kane had a 6lb fish on worm, Paul O'Hagan also had a 6lb fish on the worm and Mark Graham released a fish of 11lb on the fly.

May 3rd - heavy rain fell the day before and the river was in a flood, as a result no fish were caught for the day.

May 4th - the river dropped off overnight to a fishable level, as a result 10 fish were caught for the day, 9 of these on the worm, Vincent Henry however released a fish of 8lb on the fly. Other successful anglers were David Lee (9lb), William Rainey (7.5lb), Paddy Loughlin (7.75lb), John Connolly (10.5lb), Albert Shaw (7lb), Paddy Marron (7lb), Gabriel McKeon (5lb), Stephen Moore (7lb) and last but most definitely not least Jean Loup, our friend from Switzerland who for the first time ever caught a fish on the first day of his trip, a nice 7lb fish!

The river was very high on the 5th, 6th and 7th of May, with the river in an unfishable state no fish were caught.

May 8th - the river was still very high, but John Kenyon and Sean Gallagher managed to get fish on the worm weighing 8lb and 7lb respectively.

May 9th - the river dropped slightly and was in better condition, though still too high for the fly, Philip Soden caught one 5lb on the worm, and Tony Dighton caught a nice 9lb fish also on the worm. 

May 10th - the river was in good condition for the fly and worm, this was short lived as the river rose again in the evening after heavy rainfall. 4 men made the most of the good conditions in the morning and afternoon, Tony Dighton had a 10lb fish on the fly, John Kenyon had a fish 6lb on the worm, Thomas Grylls had a 5lb fish on the worm and Vincent Henry had a fish 7lb on the fly.

The river is currently in a big flood but should fish well when it starts to drop off
