Report June 13th - June 19th

The fresh water really livened things up at Ballisodare this week, the water levels rose in the early hours of Monday and good fishing was had all week.
215 fish were caught for the week, 74 of which were released. The fly was the most productive method accounting for approximately 70% of the fish. Fish were caught both up river and at the falls, with a good number of decent sized grilse in the 5-6 pound bracket showing.
Billy Devitt had a lovely fish of 9.25 lb at the falls on Thursday on the worm, Billie also had an 8lb fish the following day.
Hughie Mahon had a fine 10lb fish at the falls on Friday on the worm along with a 4lb fish.
Frank Adams had a well made 7lb fish at the falls on Thursday on the fly and also released a fish of 4lb.
David Marron caught a nice fish 6lb on the river on Friday on the fly.
On Saturday Pat Glennon, Aiden Heffernan, Roy Cooper and Sean Gallagher all had fish in the 6-7 pound bracket on the fly up river.
Visiting angler Spencer Wolf had a lovely 10 pound bar of silver up river on Sunday taken on the fly.

The average size of fish for the week was 5 pound, with a decent few fish 4pound and a few 3 pound fish, but also a nice number of better fish around the 6 pound mark.
All fly patterns have been working including cascades (and variations), green highlander, silver Wilkinson, stoats tail, silver stoat, posh tosh and allys shrimp.
